Abstract

This study addresses the disconnect between environmental ethics and primary science education in Indonesia, proposing an integrated learning model that bridges these two areas of study. The core innovation involves combining the Nusantara Ecological Tafsir (Islamic values of Amanah, Mizan, and Ihsan) with a waste upcycling project, utilizing the FIDS (Feel, Imagine, Do, Share) design thinking model. The research, conducted as a Classroom Action Research with 69 first-grade students, aimed to (1) integrate these ethics into lesson design and (2) analyze the Effectiveness of the upcycling project in improving students' waste classification competency and internalizing the ethical values. Quantitative analysis of project implementation, measured across six indicators tied to the three ethical concepts, revealed an exceptional Overall Mean Achievement Score of 95.31% across all classes. Statistical testing confirmed the intervention was uniformly effective, with no significant difference in achievement between groups. The results successfully demonstrate that linking the practical science of waste management with spiritual values (Amanah for responsibility, Mizan for balance, and Ihsan for creative benevolence) creates a highly effective, scalable, and deeply rooted foundation for sustainable eco-literacy in young children.
